Seed grants for activists and initiatives working for the empowerment of people of Belarus

To support activities inside the country, or online, involving local communities on the ground, focusing on civic mobilization into rights-based actions on any locally significant issues, target group engagement into rights-based actions, including by the means of arts and culture, and participatory needs assessments.

Funding priorities

  1. Activities in the country, on the ground 
  2. Regional initiatives and activists outside Minsk 
  3. Work on specific issues related to youth, inclusion, gender equality

Who is the programme for?

For activists and initiatives that are undergoing or have undergone a training course and/or mentoring programme as part of the project.

How much?

Standard grants are up to 5,000 euros, with the possibility to receive up to 10,000 in cases when there is a solid basis for such requests.

For how long?

For 3–5 months of work, starting in April 2024 (Wave 3) or May 2024 (Wave 4) and ending no later than October 30, 2024.

When to apply?

The competition is open from February 1 to March 31, 2024. If you have an idea that fits the description above, submit your application by February 26, 9am Minsk time, to begin the project in April 2024 (Wave 3). Alternatively, apply by March 20, 9am Minsk time, 2024 (Wave 4), to begin the project in May 2024.

We will review your application and contact you through the number provided in the Signal. If the application passes the initial screening according to the criteria given in the columns "Funding priorities?" and "Who is this programme for?", we will invite you for an interview.

Applications will be processed within 3 weeks of submission.

Up to 38 projects of up to €5,000 will be supported at this stage. Respectively, fewer projects will be supported if requested and approved grants are up to €10,000. If the estimates of the approved projects are less than €5,000, it will be possible to support more initiatives.
