We have defended democracy and human rights since 1995
ForumCiv is the largest civil society platform in Sweden. Our members are Swedish civil society organizations. The coordination of the Swedish member organizations is done through our head office in Stockholm. The head office in Sweden also supports ForumCiv's other offices.
If you are a Swedish organization interested in membership, visit our Swedish website.
Since the very beginning, supporting civil society has been the essence of our cause. Sustainable and lasting change for democracy can only happen when we work together and when the development process is owned by the people who will live and breathe the changes.
Examples of what ForumCiv contributes to
ForumCiv's head office in Sweden runs the Transformative Partnerships Programme. This initiative brings together ForumCiv and six Swedish civil society organisations to support more than 50 partner organisations across 28 countries. The programme offers flexible, context-based financial support, capacity building and strengthened partnerships with the goal of fostering stronger and more autonomous civil societies, resilient and inclusive communities, and sustainable livelihoods with climate justice at the core.
Together with partners in countries where we work and our member organizations, ForumCiv is also advocating to influence Swedish and European policies towards a fair and sustainable world. From our Swedish office, we ensure that voices from low-income countries are heard in the Swedish debate. We want Swedish aid to be used in an effective way and that it makes a difference for the most vulnerable.
In Sweden, we work with Globalportalen, a digital platform aimed at young adults who are passionate about global issues and want to contribute to a just and sustainable world. We also coordinate the Eastern Partnership Network that aims to strengthen collaboration with civil society in the Eastern Partnership countries and Russia.
