Climate Justice & Child Rights: How can development policy be better?

Panel discussion: Climate, Disabilities and Transformative inclusion

Wednesday June 9th at 15.30–17.00 CET

80% of persons with disabilities live in low- and middle-income countries, many of which are highly climate vulnerable. However, climate adaptation and mitigation policies and programs are hardly inclusive of and accessible for them. persons with disabilities are also an untapped resource of powerful actors for change.

This 90min, 2-part international panel, led by IDA (International Disability Alliance) will unpack how climate change disproportionately affects those with disabilities, introducing practical steps to engage with this community as vibrant changemakers to fight for environmental and climate justice for all.

Glocal Voices: The place is burning down! Local action to a global climate crisis

Live-streamed on Friday June 11th at 14.00–15.15 CET

Through the lens of environmental and climate justice, this session seeks to see how at both a global and local level, people respond to our current planetary emergency. 

We are joined by community leaders from Ecuador, Ethiopia, Indonesia and Cambodia discussing their lived experiences, challenges and responses to the climate crisis. The session will be moderated by Ulrika Åkesson, Sida’s Lead Policy Specialist on Environment and Climate Change.
