Advocacy work

Together with partners in developing countries and member organisations, ForumCiv is advocating to influence Swedish and European policies towards a fair and sustainable world.

By enhancing knowledge and advocating on critical issues, ForumCiv works to change the global structures that create poverty and violate human rights. ForumCiv keeps an active dialogue with decision makers to influence Sweden's and EU’s policies.

We are a strong voice in the public debate to create opinion and ensure that voices from developing countries are heard in the Swedish debate. ForumCiv is enhancing the knowledge of other civil society organisations through seminars, analyses and reports so that they, in turn, can act towards a fair and sustainable development.

We are also engaged in numerous networks and partnerships. A selection of these are Concord, Eurodad and Ideell Arena

ForumCiv also coordinate the Eastern Partnership Network that aims to strengthen collaboration with civil society in the Eastern Partnership countries and Russia.

Our focus areas

2030 Agenda

The 2030 Agenda is an ambitious plan to achieve a sustainable, gender equal, just and secure world without poverty, for all. Through the 2030 Agenda, the world's countries have agreed to achieve a sustainable world in its three dimensions – social, economic and environmental.

Aid policy

Development aid is an important tool for reducing poverty and strengthening human rights. Being affected by poverty is not just about a lack of financial resources but also that people are denied their human rights, discriminated or otherwise unable to influence their lives.

Democracy and human rights

Today, we see a backlash against democracy and human rights in many parts of the world. Authoritarian regimes try to silence civil society – and people defending their rights are attacked and threatened. ForumCiv's work aims at defending and strengthening civil society to promote democracy and human rights.

Eastern Partnership Network

The Swedish Civil Society Network for Eastern Partnership Countries and Russia aims to increase the cooperation, build capacity and conduct joint advocacy towards governments and relevant EU institutions within the Eastern Partnership region.
